6-Day Kilimanjaro Machame Route Climb. Trek from rainforest to alpine desert via the Shira Plateau and Barranco Camp, with excellent acclimatization and panoramic views. Summit Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and descend through diverse ecosystems for a classic, rewarding Kilimanjaro experience.

You'll depart from your Moshi town hotel (800m) after breakfast and travel to Machame Gate (1800m) for registration before beginning your ascent through the rainforest to Machame Camp (3000m). The trek requires 5-6 hours, with a picnic lunch provided en route. You'll enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at Machame Camp. Distance: 10.75km | Altitude Gain: 1200m
Following breakfast, you'll continue trekking through heath and moorland terrain to Shira 2 Camp (3850m), with a picnic lunch provided, taking 4-5 hours. Dinner and overnight stay are at the campsite. This area offers expansive terrain ideal for photography. Distance: 5.3km | Altitude Gain: 850m
After an early breakfast, you'll trek to Barranco Camp (3940m), ascending through Lava Tower (4600m) for acclimatization purposes. The journey spans 6-7 hours with a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight accommodation are at Barranco Camp. Distance: 10.75km via Lava Tower | Altitude Gain: 750m | Altitude Loss: 660m
Following breakfast, you'll climb Barranco Walls (4250m) to Barafu Camp (4600m) with a picnic lunch, requiring 6-8 hours. Upon arrival, you'll rest before an early dinner and brief sleep. Around 11:00 pm, you'll prepare for your summit bid, consuming hot drinks and snacks before hiking to Uhuru Peak (5895m). The summit push takes approximately 6-7 hours. Distance: 8.5km to Barafu | 4.86km to summit | Altitude Gain: 850m to Barafu; 1295m to peak
The descent from the summit to Barafu Camp requires approximately 3 hours, followed by breakfast and rest. After a hot lunch, you'll descend through alpine desert, heath, and moorland, arriving at Mweka Camp (3100m) at the rainforest edge. Distance: 11.5km total | Altitude Loss: 2795m
After breakfast, you'll trek to Mweka Gate (1800m) through the rainforest, requiring 3-4 hours. Upon completion, you'll receive your summit certificate and transfer to a hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a warm shower and lunch. Distance: 9.1km | Altitude Loss: 1400m

Tipping your driver-guide and camp staff is customary but discretionary, and not included in the trip price.
Souvenirs, personal shopping and other individual spending money aren't included.
If the Tanzanian government raises taxes or park fees after booking, that increase is passed on rather than absorbed into your quoted price.

You can obtain this visa either online or on arrival. Typically, it takes 3-5 days to get your visa approved online. However, if your trip starts in less than a week, we recommend opting for the on-arrival visa. To avoid issues with POS machines, bring $50 in cash.
East African Community citizens travel visa-free. Other reciprocal exceptions may apply — always confirm the exact requirement for your passport on the official portal above before booking flights.
