Wildlife FAQ
Am I guaranteed to see the Big Five?
No responsible operator can guarantee wild animal sightings — but across a multi-day safari on the northern circuit, seeing four or five of them is realistic. Rhino is the hardest, since Ngorongoro Crater is really the only reliable spot.
When is the best time to see the Great Migration?
It depends what you want to see — river crossings usually happen July–September in the northern Serengeti, while the calving season (with newborn wildebeest and the predator action that follows) runs January–March in the southern plains.
Where can I see wild dogs?
Ruaha and Nyerere National Parks, on the southern circuit — they're rarely seen on the more visited northern circuit parks.
Is chimp trekking difficult?
It involves real hiking through forested, sometimes steep terrain in Mahale Mountains or Gombe — more physically demanding than a game drive, but not technical, and guided throughout.
